This testimony, received directly from a ministry contact based in Mexico, remains anonymous due to their continued work in the same regions of unrest.
In the five years between 2005 and 2010, reported kidnappings rose by over 300% in Mexico. During that time, a prominent businessman in a small town in the mountains of Puebla was born again. In the process of discipleship, he was memorizing passages from the Bible, such as Psalm 91. Doing his daily routine, he was ambushed and abducted by masked gunmen. He was bound, blindfolded, and beaten in transit to an encampment in the jungle. As he moved through the thick jungle vegetation, his blindfold was removed. In the shadow of death, he remembered that there is refuge in the presence of God. He continually prayed and confessed Psalm 91:7. Psalm 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. They came upon a barbed wire fence. As his captors were crossing the fence, a disturbance that led to a firefight broke out from the bushes. As the commotion and confusion raged on, the new believer fled to the cover of the jungle unharmed by the bullets that were flying. He wandered through the jungle until he was rescued and returned to safety. He gives glory and thanks to God. Calling upon God through Psalm 91 brought him deliverance from a terrifying situation.
