Because of the fear I see running rampant from this recent pandemic, I wanted to share this important message with you. Too often I've seen people be so excited when they first hear about Psalm 91, but when a problem arises, they often completely forget the powerful preventative message in Psalm 91. They begin to try and solve the issue without the Word of God using only natural means.
There was a time in my life when I was plagued with tormenting fears and uncertainty. I voiced this question, but never really expecting an answer, “Lord, is there anyway to be protected from all the evils coming on the earth?” Immediately, I fell asleep and God supernaturally gave me a dream about Psalm 91 before I ever knew it existed. This happened over 50 years ago, and this covenant has never failed. In my dream, I heard God answer my question with these words, “In your day of trouble, call upon me and I will answer you.” Immediately, I was standing in an open field shouting my praises and thanking God for the answer. As I did this, the field began to fill with a sea of people as far as I could see in every direction. They, too, were praising God jubilantly. I believe you are many of the ones I saw in the field with me in my dream. This is a tremendous time to trust God and His Word. It's time to refuse fear, and instead, be thankful to Him for the supernatural answer He gave to my question that day. Some 50 years later and we are hearing testimonies from all over the world of how God’s Word is working. I want to invite you into my personal, daily walk with God for how I appropriate Psalm 91 on a daily basis. I believe this will help you to develop your faith muscles and begin to pray this psalm back to God as a preventative prayer of thanksgiving. I still get excited that Psalm 91 is filled with promises from God Himself, and God cannot lie. However, this is so important—this covenant only works for the ones who take these promises and choose to believe them, declare them in faith and determine not to allow sight and circumstances to take precedence over God's word. You will be surprised how fast this process begins to work. There is absolutely nothing with which the enemy can come against us that is not addressed in our Psalm 91 Protection Covenant. Twice in this covenant God tells us we do not have to be afraid of the pestilence. v. 3 It is He (God) who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. v. 6 You will not be afraid of the pestilence that stalks in darkness. The definition of a pestilence is any virulent or fatal disease: an epidemic that hits the masses of people–any deadly disease that attaches itself to one’s body with the intent to destroy. A pestilence is dangerous. It's intent is to destroy—to be fatal! This Coronavirus outbreak definitely falls under this category and twice it is mentioned—once we are told God will deliver us from it and next we are told not to fear it. What a precious promise. Let that drain every trace of fear completely out of our mind. I try to never leave my house or start my day without quoting the entire Psalm 91 back to God in 1st person in a prayer of thanksgiving. If I’m praying it back to God and my mind wanders, I start my prayer over until I am actually pouring my heart out in faith directly to God. It's from the heart, not the head. With the heart man believes and with the mouth he confesses. I picture myself in the Throne Room actually talking face to face with God. I have found that many people when they pray are concentrating on what they are saying and how they are saying it but forgetting to realize that they are talking directly to God Himself. When that happens, it is not much more than a ritual. As we pray, we need to be consciously aware every single time that we are talking directly to our Heavenly Father—our best friend—fully convinced that He is hearing every word we are saying to Him. I think that is what it means in I John 5:14-15: 14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. I have received literally 100’s of testimonies from people who stood on Psalm 91 and have had miracle interventions. It works! But we have to choose to believe it more than what we are seeing and more than the reports we may be hearing. I make this covenant my daily top priority. I encourage you to do the same. Remember, the enemy continually tries to tear our faith down. Putting fear thoughts in our mind is one of his main tactics. He bombards us with 100’s of reasons why our covenant won’t work, and those fear thoughts can seem almost overwhelming at times. Once when I was battling with this barrage of fear, God simply spoke the words “exchange system” to me. Afterwards, he told me to exchange every negative thought, every fear, every contradiction to the Word with a promise from God’s Word. When fear would hit, God impressed me to immediately quote “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind”. I was to do that until the fear lifted. When a thought of disease would come, I was to immediately say, “Jesus has borne all my sicknesses and diseases on His own body.” When God seems far away I am to say, “Jesus never leaves or forsakes me.” It became fun to me to find a Scripture promise to contradict every negative thought. You cannot find a fear that there is not a Scripture promise to contradict it. I began typing out a list of every promise I could think of to use to overtake whatever fear thought that Satan might use against me. Make a game out of it and see how quickly you can come up with God’s answer. Another important hint is to always say those Scripture promises out loud. It won’t take doing this very long before your fear will totally lift and your faith will begin to soar. -Peggy Joyce Ruth
