The King James Version of Psalm 91:1 gives us a unique aspect to this shelter by letting us know it is a secret hiding place. It gives us a cozy feeling of having a special place between God and us. God is calling us to a secret place with Him. Think about where you want to be when you need security. I remember when I was a little girl and would wake up in the middle of the night, feeling afraid; I would tiptoe down to my mother and dad’s room and very quietly slip into their bed. I would lie there silently, listening to them breathe, feeling all cozy and protected. Before I knew it, the fear was gone, and I would be sound asleep. God is a Safe Place It can be frightening to look into the future, to head out into the world. Now is the best time to find your own personal safe place with God. Maybe you have a secret one that makes you feel safe and secure where you can talk to Him about what’s on your heart. It could be a park or a drive you take in your car or even just your room, but that place always pulls you back in with familiarity and the quiet reassurance that everything will somehow turn out okay. Run to God with Your Heart He is a place of shelter that will keep you protected. God says that He is the place of real safety from every bad thing you can think of in the whole earth—if you will run to Him. Just as a shepherd fights to protect his sheep, He will fight to protect you. Everyone is looking for a safe place. God says He will lift us up and carry us joyfully on His shoulders (Luke 15:4). Run to God, not with your feet, but with your heart. You are running to God every time you think about Him, every time you tell Him you love Him, every time you work out your problems with His help, every time you make the time to talk to Him. If you believe God is telling you the truth when He says He is a place of safety where you can be protected, then you are ready to start this journey. -Peggy Joyce Ruth Get the Book!
