A Glimpse into the Ministry of The Ruth Family
Jack and Peggy Joyce Ruth, founders of Living Word Church, worked together pastoring in Central Texas for over 30 years. Peggy Joyce says her childhood was near perfect; attending the Baptist Church her dad lovingly made sure her family was at church practically every time the doors opened.
After marriage, Jack and Peggy Joyce taught Boys and Girls Sunday School classes at the Methodist Church and then later at the Baptist Church in town. In her twenties, Peggy Joyce felt obligated to share the gospel with a Buddhist neighbor, which led her into a spiritual battle she was not trained nor prepared for. Her faith was shaken to the core. [See “Tormented Eight Years and Back” for the full story.] After her powerful deliverance from years of tormenting anxiety and fear, as a result of that encounter, Peggy Joyce began studying her Bible for hours each day, building her faith by pulling promises from the verses and putting them to work in her life. Jack felt like he heard the Lord tell him to build a house when they had little resources. They did not know at the time but the Lord was taking them on a journey to trust Him more. Those Who Trust the Lord Shall Not Be Disappointed is the book that tells this portion of their story. As they grew in their relationship with the Lord people started coming to them asking for deliverance and to be ministered to. From that time on Jack and she became “pioneers” in their city for experiencing and sharing the Spirit-filled walk.
They began hosting Bible Studies in the home the Lord had told Jack to build. From there the church grew and began to meet in different buildings around town. Eventually, they built a Church building where Jack became the Senior Pastor. They loved seeing lives changed by the Good News. God led them to add The Word Shoppe - a Christian bookstore housed inside the church, and available to the public. With a heart for the youth, they built a Christian School for grades K-12 and later added two Christian Radio Stations for their city that are still in operation today. KPSM FM - Christian Contemporary and KBUB FM - Country Gospel stations available via online streaming.
Their daughter, Angie, teaches a Bible Study to College students and young adults. She has taken the message her parents put in her and shared it around the world on countless mission trips. Her teachings are centered around making disciples and equipping them to launch into their individual callings. Her Podcast is linked below. God gifted their son, Bill, to be a successful builder, and lawyer, who always has a big construction project in the works.
The Psalm 91 ministry was birthed from a supernatural dream Peggy Joyce had after voicing her question to God, “Is there any way to be protected from everything coming on the earth?” When many people retire, Jack and Peggy Joyce simply diverted their full attention to Psalm 91 as it became clear they were to focus on this life commission. Over six million Psalm 91 books by Peggy Joyce are in print with various titles for children, moms, families, military and more. Her travel schedule began to fill with more speaking engagements. Jack had always been the backbone of the ministry, hearing God’s voice, taking on big assignments, and trusting God every step of the way. At one of the recordings at Sid Roth - It’s Supernatural, where Peggy Joyce was to speak, Jack simply introduced himself as Mr. Peggy Joyce Ruth. It was all in fun and everyone present burst into laughter. It had a certain ring to it for a humble, God-fearing man who taught many people to hear God and develop a love walk with Him. So, in honor of a very special man, we have dedicated a Podcast for his legacy teachings as “Mr. Peggy Joyce Ruth.” As a ministry we wanted to give Pastor Jack's teaching as a gift to you and your family. Jack always would tell us "If you get a hold of this message, it will change your life" James (Jack) Ruth (1940-2017)
