It's been 25 years since Hurricane Andrew. Here is Dale and Pat's incredible story. Their windows and doors were covered over with plywood, water had been stored in barrels and everything outside had been securely held down or brought inside. As Pat listened to the news, the storm was headed straight for Miami with winds exceeding 150 mph, putting their home directly in its path. Dale saw cars bumper to bumper along every lane of highway, moving no more than 5 mph, thus extinguishing all hope of loading up the family and getting out of town. Fourteen family members gathered in the home. Pat knew she had authority in the name of Jesus. She began to apply the blood of Jesus and declare Psalm 91. She walked through the yard touching the house, the utility shed, and placing everything under the protection of the God of the universe. By 4 am the storm was so vicious everyone thought the home would break in two. It sounded like a jet taking off the runway. The roof convulsed but continued to hold in place. The last report before the TV coverage went out showed winds of 163 mph. Heavy objects beat against the home, so loudly, they thought it was cars hitting the outside of their home. When they were finally able to go outside the next morning, it looked like pictures from a movie of a city that had been bombed. Their home was the only one in the area with the shed intact. Their property looked like an oasis in the desert and soon became like a tourist attraction. Neighbors were appalled when they saw the damage in the neighborhood compared to their home. One man was suspicious and said, "you've been praying again, haven't you?" Pat explained that she had walked the property and prayed Psalm 91. He asked her to extend her prayer borders! Their statement was "Psalm 91 is, and always will be, our refuge in every storm." Patricia added these thoughts recently: I get excited about it all over again, when I get to read how we believed the authority of Psalm 91. I can still see me laying hands on the beautiful palm trees that surrounded our property, speaking the words of the 91st Psalm. We spoke to our huge shed and told it to be at peace, and not come apart in the 151 mph winds that we were told were coming our direction. We laid hands on the walls of the house and spoke the Name of Jesus. Our place looked like an oasis in a desert, when the winds finally laid down. What a faithful God we serve. What an honor! What a Lord! Get the Book!
