Authority Over Satan, Sin, Sickness, Self, and SituationsOnce Jesus bought back the power and authority from the hands of the enemy, He put it into the hands of His believers. But, one of the saddest things in the Church world today is how few Christians know what they have been given. From the moment that man was created, he was given dominion and authority over this earth. It was lost for many years, but it has now been bought back. Unfortunately, few Christians even know what they have, and even fewer know what their authority covers....

God Has Promised To Protect Your Family - Psalm 91Are You Worried About Your Family?
After God repeats our part of the condition in verse nine, He then re-emphasizes the promise in verse ten: “ ...nor will it come near your dwelling place (your household).” It is at this point in the psalm that the Bible makes this covenant more comprehensive than just being about ourselves! |
How Reasoning Gets Us in Trouble Part 1
To comprehend how a correct understanding of the character of God makes the difference between success and failure in our Christian walk, we must spend a little time discussing how mental reasoning plays into that scenario. Most of us don’t realize how dangerous reasoning can be.
|
How Reasoning Gets Us in Trouble Part 2
Intellectual reasoning feels good. It sounds right—it is very enticing! Intellectual Pride thrives on reasoning because it feels good—it sounds right! And most of the time, there is just enough truth to it, and just enough good in it, to deceive us.

The Time for Psalm 91 is Now
Now is the era when God’s people will make decisions whether or not they will receive the protection available. It has been over 40 years since God gave Psalm 91 to me in a dream. He quoted directly out of the ninety-first psalm in my dream. I was in an open field and began rejoicing with all my heart. Suddenly, the field began filling with people who were joining me in praising God for those promises. Finally, as far as I could see in every direction, people were thanking God for what had been revealed. I didn’t know at the time what that dream meant, but it soon became apparent that God was offering an added protection for the end times..

Fire Hydrant or Sprinklers?
The church I grew up attending had a door-to-door visitation program on Tuesdays, but it wasn’t my favorite day. The only prayer I remember was, “Lord, please don’t let anyone answer this door when I knock!” Surely I’m not alone in that thought; have you ever been a part of visitation and prayed no one would answer the door?
I loved the Lord! Why was witnessing so hard? I will share some things I have since learned about two very different and opposite concepts of evangelism. |
SPEAK - Don't ThinkLook closely again at verse two—“I will SAY of the Lord…” It is not enough to think it. God not only wants you to know that He is your refuge; He wants you to SAY it. This Psalm gives you the words to say about how much you see Him as your safe place. With believing comes security, but with speaking comes authority.

God Will Set You Securely On High - Psalm 91
To be set securely on high is the second promise to those who love the Lord and know Him by Name. What all is there to know about a name? When God wanted to show the people something important about Himself, or about His promises in the Old Testament, He would make it known by revealing another one of His covenant Names. His Name revealed Himself: Jehovah Jireh is above lack, His Name Jehovah Rapha is higher than sickness, His Name as Jehovah Shalom is above a revved up, restless mind. We see this theme of His Name above all other names also in the New Testament

Do You Love Truth?Truth has to be going into us—and coming out of us—at all times. Behind the pulpit, in the pew, in our own private lives and outside of church we need to search to see if we truly love truth. If you have an area in which things consistently go wrong, look closely. You will often find that there is not an adamant love of truth, because truth always sets one free. Just to acknowledge truth is not enough; one will not continue to adhere to the truth unless he chooses to love it.

Returning to Your First Love
Do you remember your first love? You couldn't eat, you couldn't sleep? You couldn't think or talk about anything else? In Revelation 2:4, Jesus says this, "but I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

The Thief Comes to Steal, to Kill, and to DestroyJesus very simply said exactly the same thing in John 10:10—“The thief [that includes all his demon powers] comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy....” Most people take that statement too lightly. What Jesus was saying is very literal. But in the counterpart to that—Jesus said, “...but I have come that you might have abundant life.” And the way we have that life is by thinking and acting dependently upon God rather than independently on our own.

Psalm 91 - God Rescues Us From Trouble
The Fourth Promise of Psalm 91 - to rescue from trouble those who love the Lord—is found in the middle of verse 15. It is a well-known fact that human nature cries out to God when faced with trouble. Men in prison, soldiers in war, people in accidents... all seem to call out to God when they get in a crisis. Even atheists are known to call on the God they don’t acknowledge when they are extremely afraid.

You Will Tread On The Lion and Cobra - Psalm 91My husband says that too many Christians take authority when they should be praying, and they pray when they should be taking authority! For the most part Jesus prayed at night and took authority all day. When we encounter the enemy—that is not the time to start praying. We need to be already “prayed up”. When we encounter the enemy, we need to be speaking forth the authority that we have in the Name of Jesus.

Hiding in God - Psalm 91
It can be frightening to look into the future. Now is the best time to find your own personal safe place with God to develop a relationship with Him. Maybe you have a secret one that makes you feel safe and secure where you can talk to Him about what’s on your heart. It could be at a park or a drive you take in your car or even a room in your home, but that place always pulls you back in with familiarity and the quiet reassurance that everything will somehow turn out okay.

Don’t Ignore Satan - Answer Him!
Faith is a conviction that God’s Word works. For example, good things can happen when we stand on Psalm 91 and say with conviction, “Lord, I choose to dwell in Your shelter. You are my refuge and my fortress and You are the one who delivers me from pestilence and every evil. Your faithfulness is my shield against the enemy, therefore, I will not fear. Though a thousand may fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand, you have promised that it will not approach me.
|
Though a Thousand May Fall - Psalm 91What an awesome statement! God wants us to know that even though there will be a thousand falling by our side and ten thousand at our right hand, it does not negate the promise that destruction will not approach the one who chooses to believe and trust His Word. The Amplified Bible says, “...it shall not approach you for any purpose” He means exactly what He says.

Don't Be Disappointed in GodAll day I found myself almost subconsciously quoting that same phrase over and over again—“Those who trust the Lord will not be disappointed.” But by afternoon it was no longer subconscious. I realized something very unusual was happening. Finally, my lightning fast mind recognized that God was giving me something important that He wanted me to hear!

Have We Been Praying Enough?
“Five minutes inside eternity and we will wish that we had sacrificed more, wept more, grieved more, loved and prayed more, and given more.”
-Leonard Ravenhill We need to ask ourselves, “How serious have I been to do my part in bringing about the miracle of this calamity being lifted off of us? How often have I been getting on my face and crying out to God for forgiveness for our nation, and crying out for forgiveness for my personal sins? |
Overcoming Fear This week, I had a young woman show up at my doorstep who was in a fear lockdown. As Laurie approached the porch, there was no moment of recognition; and though we knew each other, she walked as if she was led captive by some unseen hand. One of the girls from our college Bible study, who had been working with her, decided it was time to bring her over. I looked for the young woman I had once known. Now she had a deeply tormented stare that brought back memories to me…

Is the WORD Your Final Authority? One of the things God spoke to me was that I must make the Word of God my final authority in every area of my life, and I remember how impossible that sounded at the time. I reasoned that there were things in the Bible that went so contrary to the world that I couldn’t imagine being able to function in this life while relying totally on the Word at the same time. It would be like trying to live in two different worlds simultaneously.
|
Are You Going Through the Motions of Believing God?It is possible to say all the right things without realizing that it has become just words. When you get serious with God and determine you want more than just a passive faith, you’ll start becoming aware of those times when your faith is passive. Passive faith always becomes complacent.
|
Whose Thoughts Are You Tuned Into? The enemy’s subtle trap is to put thoughts in a person’s mind, either directly in first person or through circumstances. For example, he puts thoughts like, “I think I’m having a heart attack" . . . "I don’t think I love my spouse any longer" . . . "I don’t think my husband loves me”. . . and on and on! The fact that each thought is in first person makes one assume it to be his own thinking.
|
How To Know If You Are Operating In TrustHow can I know if I am operating in trust? The Lord showed me that I should turn it around and look at it from the opposite direction. If I found myself wallowing in feelings of disappointment then I would know that I was not operating in Trust. That became my barometer...

Don't Fear Deadly Diseases - Psalm 91It is worth noting now in the margin of your Bible that Psalm 91:3 has two distinct parts and mentions that he rescues us from deadly pestilence (disease). Think for a moment of the many diseases that are tormenting our world today—cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and on and on. Is there a certain disease you fear? The world may laugh at you for believing God, but He promises to protect you from those things
|
How Committed Are You To God's Word? This is a deep commitment that says, “Lord, I am trusting You in the middle of this impossible situation, and I know the time will come that I will not be disappointed—so I am making the choice not to allow feelings of disappointment to overtake me now.”

Has the Lord Shown You the Root of Your Problem?
The man told me to open my mouth, and when I did I could see a black tooth. Then my whole body became transparent, and I saw black roots going down through the trunk of my body and down my arms and legs. The Lord was showing me the root of the problem.

Exchange Defeat For Victory
No wonder I could never have peace and joy. My mind and emotions were so filled and cluttered with harassing spirits. Paralyzing doubts had left little room for righteousness, peace, and joy.

Under His WingsIs everyone protected under the wings? Did you notice it says He will cover you with His pinions (feathers), and under His wings, you may seek refuge? Again, it’s up to us to make that decision! We can seek refuge under His wings, if we choose to.
|
SPEAK Psalm 91 Out LoudSo many times, as Christians, we mentally agree that the Lord is our Refuge — but that is not good enough. Power is released in saying it out loud. When we say it, and mean it, we are placing ourselves in His shelter. By voicing His Lordship and His Protection we walk in the door to the secret place.

What Is The Devil Baiting You With? What makes you like the frog in a pan being warmed up until he eventually finds himself cooking? What is it that looks like it has the power to destroy your life? You fall for it time and time again. This is a baited trap. Realize that God warns us about the trapper (Satan) and that his traps are hand-baited to appeal to each individual’s weaknesses.
|
Where Is Your Secret Place?Have you ever been inside a cabin with a big roaring fire in the fireplace, enjoying this wonderful feeling of safety and security as you watched an enormous lightning storm going on outside? It was a warm, wonderful sensation, knowing you were being sheltered and protected from the storm. That is what Psalm 91 is all about—shelter!
|
The Faithfulness That Surrounds - Psalm 91How often I’ve heard people say,“I can’t dwell in the shelter of God. I mess up and fall short too many times. I feel guilty and unworthy.” God knows all about our weaknesses. That’s why He gave His Son. We can no more earn this protection, or deserve it, than we can earn or deserve our salvation.

Do Not Fear the Terror at Night - Psalm 91
Terror by night—includes all the evils that come through man: kidnapping, robbery, rape, murder, terrorism, wars...! It is the dread—or horror— or alarm that comes from what man can do to you. God is saying,“You will not be afraid of any of those things...because they will not approach you” Psalm 91:5-7

Flesh Attracts Vultures
I have been asked this question many times: “How do you know the difference between an area of flesh and demonic activity?” Some times it is hard to know whether one is contending with demons or dealing with flesh.

Do You Know What God Has Promised In Psalm 91?
God lets us know in Psalm 91, “You will not be afraid of terror, arrows, pestilence or destruction because I have said in My Word that it will not approach you—if you are obedient to verses one and two to dwell in My shelter and abide in My shadow.” And, of course, we cannot dwell and abide in Him apart from Jesus. But, praise God!—because of the shed Blood of the Cross, it has now been made possible. We can receive anything that God has already provided.

You Will Not Be Afraid Of The Arrow That Flies By Day - Psalm 91
You will not be afraid of...the arrow that flies by day
–Psalm 91:5 Arrows Are Deliberately Sent. The second category of evil is the arrow that flies by day. An arrow is something that pierces or wounds spiritually, physically, mentally or emotionally. This category indicates that you are in a spiritual battle zone—specific enemy assignments that are directed toward your life to defeat you. |
